NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON MODELS

Harley-Davidson doesn't want to be left behind. He knows that the future is already here, that's why he is striving to put all the meat on the grill in his incorporation to the market of electric vehicles.

Harley-Davidson began his electric adventure with the Livewire project in 2014, although it will not be until September of this year when his first electric motorcycle arrives at the H-D dealers in Spain. The Livewire, with 225 km of autonomy in the city, is just the beginning of a change in the company's philosophy, in which urban mobility has become its main commitment.

Not surprisingly, the Milkwakee company has opened new R&D facilities in Silicon Valley (California), where they strive to design and develop new electric models.

At the moment they took advantage of their presence in the X Games of Aspen (Colorado) to present two new prototypes, more focused on the functional and the everyday. A scooter and a light enduro that have not yet been baptized.

At the risk of getting out of their mysticism, with these new concepts in the H-D they have decided to direct the focus to the millennial youth, perhaps because they are not very sure that there will be a generational relief of custom style lovers. Renewed or die.

It is a couple of very light models, small, designed for the city, very easy to handle. No clutch, no gearshift. With the idea that no type of motorcycle driving license is required to drive them. A real revolution - somewhat risky, of course - with which to recover its position as a reference for the two wheels.

Both models have a removable battery, with a handle and easy to carry with one hand, presenting, according to the brand itself, an aesthetic style in line with the philosophy of the H-D design.

The electric scooter proposed by Harley takes to the next level the idea of Lythium Cycles and its Super 73. In principle, it presents the normal structure of this type of motorcycle, focused on the city, but with a surf roll. With a long seat, which leaves room for a companion and even to carry cargo, and with endless footrests, which surfboard divided into two.

It has a tubular frame, wide handlebar and chopper-type rear-view mirror, a hollow LED headlight that surrounds the firm's logo and, in terms of engine, uses the belt drive that allows it to reach a speed of 50 km / h.

The other concept has a much more "off-road" orientation. With a combined aesthetic between moped and ‘mountain bike’, but without pedals, with ‘flat track’ airs. This ‘dirk bike’ prototype features a single seat and a narrow, sharp cushion, which adds to a fork similar to that of a mountain bike. Similar options already exist on the market, such as the Brinco Discover, from Bultaco, or the American Stealth Bomber. We will see how the public responds with this new bet.

In its desire to turn its strategy around, the US firm has also made public the acquisition of the StaCyC (Stability Cycle) company, which designs and markets children's electric bicycles since its founding in 2016. There we see it. A declaration of intentions.

There is still a lot of technical data to know about the new two-wheel prototypes that H-D expects to launch from 2020, but of course, what they do promise is good handling and a lot of fun. The adventure is guaranteed!
